Erik Hans Haferkamp

Erik Hans Haferkamp, 22, Beloved son of Bonnie (John Wilson) Haferkamp and David (Andrea) Haferkamp. Loving brother of Elizabeth Haferkamp, Jacob Wilson and Jillian Wilson-Martin. Cherished grandson of Kenneth and Vicki Kopecky, Rudi and Viola Haferkamp and the late Penelope Cannon. Erik was also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
Erik was a 2010 graduating senior at University of Illinois-Champaign with a double major in Molecular & Cellular Biology and Psychology. When Erik wasn’t in the classroom, he was an undergraduate researcher in the Rhodes neuropsychology lab at the Beckman Institute.
He was a 2005 graduate of Fremd High School. In his spare time, Erik was an artist, writer and environmentalist. Through the Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network, Erik improved and saved the lives of many others.
Funeral Information
Visitation Saturday 11 -2 PM with a Memorial Service, at 12 PM at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Hwy, Palatine. Interment private.
Donations Information
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Erik Haferkamp Memorial Fund supporting undergraduate research at the Beckman Institute, 217-333-0810.
